Investigation Launched Into The Cause Of A Fatal Indiana Truck Accident
August 28, 2013
The Terre Haute Truck Accident Lawyers with Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin explain there are numerous factors that can cause an accident involving a commercial vehicle. Investigators are currently looking into factors contributing to a crash that claimed seven lives less than two weeks ago.
An article released by the Post-Tribune stated the collision occurred on Thursday, August 15, along Interstate 65 in Jasper County. The victims were all traveling in a Jeep Cherokee SUV following a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer. As the big rig and SUV began to slow for traffic in front of a work zone though, the driver of a 2007 Volvo tractor-trailer failed to come to a halt and slammed into the rear of the SUV, pushing it into the rear of the Freightliner.
All passengers in the SUV were killed as a result of the collision.
Cpl William Jones, a spokesperson for the Indiana State Police, stated investigators are continuing to search for a cause of the crash and are examining the tractor-trailer that caused the crash to ensure it was in good working order prior to the collision.
The law firm’s team of Terre Haute Personal Injury Lawyers recognizes the numerous laws regulating safety in the transportation industry. The firm says these laws have been used to establish claims of negligence against a truck driver following a crash and suggest discussing your case with an attorney if you have been hurt in an accident caused by a commercial truck.
